We are a nonprofit organization focused on supporting disabled folks who work in (or want to work in) book publishing (i.e. publishers, agents, lit mags, etc) in the United States.  We will collaborate with other groups (e.g. authors, booksellers, librarians, international), but that is the focus. We're not sponsored or run by any other organization. We are a nonprofit organization with 501c3 status as of November 22nd, 2022 and are in the process of raising funds in order to make a greater positive impact in the publishing industry.  Read more about how we got started on the About page, and click here to donate and support our mission. 

Our definition of disability is broad and inclusive of invisible & chronic illnesses and neurodiversity (among others). We're not here to gatekeep anyone's identity. If you are an editor/agent who is interested in supporting books involving disability/by writers with disabilities, get in touch with us and we can add you to our directory. 

If you want to support industry professionals who identify as Disabled or having a disability, consider hiring someone from our Freelance Directory! 

If you'd like to write a related piece to health/illness/disability and the publishing industry for our blog, email us with your pitch.

No! We know that self-identifying as disabled in this industry can be precarious and welcome you to participate to the extent you feel comfortable. We obtain explicit consent from everyone who is mentioned/listed on our site. We are also not here to gatekeep and don't require people to disclose their disability in order to use any of our resources.
